A portrait will be posted every week (usually Sunday afternoon) on this website home page throughout the year of 2019. Some are of young Chinese learners whom I used to teach in my early years in China, some are of family and friends, others are of artists and curators with whom I have worked over the years in China. This portrait along with Irish Boy in Yellow is based on a pose my son made over 10 years ago , a special requestI made of him to tilt his head upwards…. in response to a painting by a Chinese artist of the same title I saw on a Sothebys catalogue over a dozen years ago. (when I return to China I will find that image and post it here – I am currently in Sanfrancisco visiting family which is why it is still Sunday still here at the time of posting ).
