at COP30… From Ballina to Belem …Memory Palace of Tree Stories in “Interwoven”

Delighted to be part of a quilt collective …organized by the wonderful team at the Mary Robinson Centre in Mayo, Ireland. The quilt called Interwoven highlights multiple communities around Ireland engaged in community Climate Action projects.

“Each patch is unique – and yet, each is connected. In stitching their squares, groups made visible what is often unseen: the daily, persistent, local work that roots communities, restores nature, and builds resilience. Together, the patches were woven into something collective — a symbol that carries not just cloth, but voices.”

What is COP30 ?

“COP” stands for “ Conference of the Parties “ under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

Why is this COP30 different from the previous COPs?

This is the first time for a Global Ethical Stocktake , with dialogues in 6 Continents gathering a set of civil society contributions which will be delivered at the conference. One of these such meetings was held online by Haumea Ecoversity  last month   .

I am delighted to see the square for my Memory Palace of Tree Stories as part of this collective there. The Memory Palace of Tree Stories is a global storytelling initiative that gathers short video reflections about trees. It invites individuals from diverse cultures, disciplines, and generations to share their stories and explore their relationship to nature, creating a living archive that blends ecological awareness, cultural memory, and artistic expression.

Since its launch in 2020, over 120 stories have been collected from China, Ireland, and Europe, each a seed of empathy and remembrance, forming an evolving, multimedia memory palace to honor our interdependence with the living world. The Memory Palace is more than a storytelling project; it is a platform bridging art, environmental understanding, and community engagement.
