Blazer Blue oil on canvas 50x50cm Niamh Cuningham/瑞联 2018 2

As this is the first Sunday of 2019 my new year resolution is to post a portrait every week. I am hoping this will push my portraits to completion and will have over 60 of these within the year.

I will post works from the Transparent Milk Series which are of young Chinese learners  and of other portraits  of friends , family and art world people here in China with whom I have worked with over the years. The above work Blazer Boy Blue is of an old resource which I have only just got around to paint in December . The moment is from many years ago when we first arrived in China,  my son was trying on a new school blazer and was strutting about getting used to the new feeling. I think he looks a bit like Robert Emmet!
