中国爱尔兰当代艺术展11月29日在上海黄浦区半淞园路移动的头脑博物馆开幕。

爱尔兰驻沪总领事特雷泽·希利在星期五晚上的开幕酒会上致辞，并介绍了五位参展爱尔兰艺术家的作品。

本次展览也是为庆祝中爱两国建交40周年而举办，由比利时中欧创意文化平台的许雯出品，策展人Lulu。

肖像画在上海世博园移动的头脑博物馆展出。

知名策展人黄笃先生为今年早些时候举办的群展“奥德赛——回归”撰文，其中写到我的肖像作品：

这种异样的绘画语言并不只是所谓形式上的突破，而是它的编造带来的是对绘画主观给以碎片化处理，并内化于心的形而上破解，实现图像与记忆交合的感知力，从而建立了新的形象叙事，达到对肖像画的重新界定。

与此同时，她在这样的创作中力图改造绘画的路径，截断了肖像画过于追求经典化，而是给绘画大胆注入了类似摄影的要素，使切片化形象瞬间建立起主体和语言经验的连接。

她运用另类绘画的方法解构已存在的诸多艺术创作规则，建立起图像和文学平行的两个世界中真实存在的交合点。

Swim Duck- Blooms thoughts on water as he fills a kettle

James Joyce included numerous lists in various parts of his book Ulysses.  Some of these lists were not meaningful but this list on water qualities is rich and diverse as it is poetic. It’s quite an intense moment of thought while filling a kettle (in the Chapter Ithaca ) , everything is magnified and heightened.

《游岩》是一个肖像画系列，画的是我的学生、家人、朋友、艺术家、策展人，名字取自詹姆斯·乔伊斯的著名现代文学作品《尤利西斯》中的一章。更多细节，敬请期待……

The Sucrose Series- crystalisation continues to push Ink to new places.

I have been documenting the progress of the sucrose crystals in my work for a considerable time. This blog will take a look at some of the changes occurring in certain works recently exhibited at China Europe Contemporary Art Global Tour Shanghai curated by Ma Yiying and Longjingli.

The crystallisation process has slowed down considerably over the past 10 months but it is still possible to see its traces as it pushes the ink within the mixed media. The ink which has been shifted by this process comes from two sources. Some of the interventions I make with this work involve ‘lifting off’ the surface ink and also I have added Chinese water colour ink to the mixed media of sugar and other secret ingredients. On Paper.Supreme 2018 series of exhibitions will tour several cities in China begins in QingDao Tiantai Art Centre this weekend. The exhibition is curated by Chang Feng and will open onJunel 17th.

Guanlan Printmaking Residency – The woodcuts and other prints

 

I have just returned from Shenzhen after a very special five week artists residency. This post will look at the work I made. The next post will take a look at the printingmaking base, the people and also a look at the Printmaking Museum .

I worked in the wood cut department reworking a previous painting (Huiyuan Water City). The area is of my old neighbourhood near Olympic park with the Birds Nest in the background.

6/6/ Impulse of Delight x3 on Yellow Niamh Cunningham 2018 35 x 90cm

Both ‘Huiyuan’ and ‘Step One’ were reduction woodcuts with 3 colours. This technique uses the same wood board for printing each colour, in this case the first cut is the darkest colour working to medium and light. The photos below show the last colour for ‘Huiyuan’ .
