A portrait will be posted every week (usually Sunday afternoon) on this website home page throughout the year of 2019. Some are of young Chinese learners whom I used to teach in my early years in China, some are of family and friends, others are of artists and curators with whom I have worked over the years in China.
In his younger adulthood Ferryman had three boats of various states of repair. He would spend all his free time and money fixing them making them seaworthy. And every Summer he would take us on boat trips along parts of the river Barrow ( very low draft) and more often on the sea. One year we journeyed as close as two miles from the Skellig islands (off the coast of Kerry) on a small estuary boat before turning safely back due to choppy waters.
